  1. How the Europeans affected the Native Americans is: 1) When the Europeans invaded, they they started to just take land for themselves and often raided and killed Native Americans. 2) The Europeans brought new diseases to the Natives for which they had no healing power. 3) Since the Natives belived so much in nature, it was a huge offense when the Europeans started taking the land and using for whatever suited their needs.

  2. I think that it affected the Native Americans because they were not used to having people come to their land and explore it.They watched all the European countries that explored America claiming land for their own country on their land.

  3. question 1:
Did you know that Europeans were the first ones to discover America? They brought disadvantages and advantages to America.
Some of the advantages were they brought horses which were a new way of transportation
Some of the bad thing were they brought diseases. Chicken pox and measles, some of the more dangerous diseases they brought were small pox. About 80% of the population died with European diseases.
I believe that the Native Americans did not like the Europeans coming to the Americas. I don’t think I would like it either if they brought diseases that killed us.

Out of the three questions I’m answering question number one Europe invaded the now known United States they pushed the Native Americans out and would turn them into slaves to increase the building of their towns. The native Americas would try to disagree and they would either be tortured or killed. The Europeans would take their homes from them. I don’t think it was very fair they didn’t do anything to us and their before us but I’m not one to talk if they hadn’t I wouldn’t be here today.

  5. 1st Question
We already know the Europeans brought many benefits but also many struggles as they sailed across the seas to America. When the Europeans colonized in America it, forever, changed the lives of many Native Americans. One of the disadvantages for the Native Americans was that the Europeans brought many diseases such as the Smallpox, however the Europeans brought horses to America and the Native Americans liked that a lot.
The reason Native Americans liked having the horse was because it made it easier to expand their territories, and exchange goods with other tribes. It became a part of their daily life.
From all the diseases like measles, chicken pox, and smallpox, the Europeans brought with them, killed America’s population by a whole lot.
The Native American just did not like the Europeans. The Americans wanted to keep their culture the way it was. They didn’t like how the Europeans were taking the good land to grow crops. It all just turned out to be one big conflict between the Native Americans and the Europeans.

  6. I thought that, the English made a big impact. Because the French and Spanish already had a couple years head start and then the English came in and took over. With the help of John Smith ad his men went and sailed to a town named after their King James called, Jamestown. It was the first succesful colony, they grew and sold tobacco making the English rich which helped them prevail. On the map it shows that the English took over most of the North East part of North America. Other factors is that they made friends, the Native Americans. Which helped them through their first winter.

  7. Good or bad, the Europeans settled on American Indians territory. They influenced each other and without either one of them, we may not be where we’re at today.
The Europeans sought the new land of America for money making, freedom, and refuge from Europe. The Native Americans were different. These people wanted to be in tune with the land—both living, and non-living. When Europeans first stepped foot on the country we now call America, the Native Americans were unprepared for what was coming. Although both sides were interested in each others’ life styles, there was much conflict. These people were invading the land of these Natives and were not welcomed. Although they traded goods with each others, there was still tension. Many people would agree that Europeans did not do much good for these Native Americans. Bringing along with them small pox, measles, and other diseases that killed not only thousands of Europeans, but also the Natives living in America at that time. Others agree that the Europeans showed them many new skills and advanced technology. Some urged the Indians to adopt the European life style, but not many took to it. Europeans finally forced treaties with the Natives and established reservations for them in the western states. At one point, the Native Americans and the Europeans had to have put aside their disagreements to now live in a society involving every one of us.

  8. There were two reasons that the Europeans wanted to explore and colonize more land.
First, the population had spiked and the English had no more room on their land.
Second, the English grew very powerful and grew more aware of their country's economic and general society's needs.
To summarize, the English had grown in population and strength therefore engouraging land exploration.

  9. Question One: It affected them in many ways, such as, taking their land and bringing in many different types of disease. Although the indians helped them in many diferet kinds of ways. One major one is by helping them plant crops which could have me life or death for the settlers. Some of the settlers did not enjoy having the indians there and killed them. This just goes to show many people have done many stupid things in the American history.

  10. Well, here I go. I am going to answer question one, about how the Europeans affected the Native Americans.
First, the Spanish heard of the Indians gold and silver riches, and they wanted it; so, they took it. The Spanish fought against the Natives fiercely, and eventually conquered some of them, like the Aztecs and Incas.
Second, the Europeans introduced diseases to the Indians that killed many people. The Native Americans' immune systems wasn't set up to block these new sicknesses, and they spread quickly.
Lastly, and definately on a more positive note, the Europeans and the Native Americans "traded" foods, in a sense. The Indians were introduced to bananas and sugars, while the Europeans were taught how to grow crops such as tomatoes and peppers.
In conclusion, I think the Europeans destroyed much of the Indians, but also gave them new ideas and helped them improve life- that is, those who were still alive.

  11. Question 1:
When the Europeans discovered America they affected the Native Americans largely in their population. Not long after the arrival of Columbus, some of the earlier tribes were reduced in numbers because of the plagues that Columbus brought with him. Some historians have said that the numbers of people in the tribes in the 1500's were already dramatically smaller than the numbers in 1492. This led some tribes to near extinction. This is one way that the Europeans affected the Native Americans.

  12. I had a hard time understanding what I read so I don’t really get the questions that well but I will do my best :) One of the bad things that affected the Natives when the Europeans came to the Americas was that they had different diseases like influenza, measles, typhus, and smallpox. The Europeans had stronger immune systems where as the Natives didn’t. So I think that it affected them because millions of people were dying. Some of the good ways that the Europeans affected the Natives were that they introduced them to important new crops and livestock. One of the most important things introduced was the horse and that became a huge part of the Natives lives.

  13. The conditions in European country had just changed as exploration started. Spain’s rulers had just joined forces to create a powerful region. So as Spain asked for money, they obliged and supported Christopher Columbus’s voyage to china. Little did they know that there was a continent in their way to China.
Meanwhile, in Portugal, they realized they had made a mistake when they told Columbus, no. And, while Columbus comes back with riches from ‘China,’ they decide to take the chance they weren’t at first going to make --the one to go through the north-eastern passage.
Later, as they learn that the land that they have been going to is not china as they had first thought, they begin to start to realize something. The New World holds something they want and need – fertile lands. So they decide to invest and start farms there.

  14. What were some conditions in Europe that helped exploration?
At first, Europeans didn't even know America exsisted. Europe was too weak, divided, and decentralized to inspire any great exploring adventures.
Eventually, conditions changed and overseas exploration grew.
One change that really helped promote exploration was growth in Europe's population. A plague that wiped out more than 1/3 of the population rebounded. More people meant more merchants and meeting the rising demand for goods, and increased trade. Advances in shipping on the ocean meant they could trade farther away. But that wasn't the only change that helped promote exploration.
Another change were new governments that were more united and powerful than what they used to have. They wanted to make their commercial development better and trade with the East.
I'm glad they explored America because now we benefit from trading with other countries. Some things we use daily are things we get from different countries.

  15. One way that the Europeans affected the Natives is that they brought diseases. The Europeans had grown somewhat immune to them while the Natives were highly vulnerable to getting the diseases. Plagues from the Europe killed thousands of natives. With the natives dying from diseases it made it easier for the Europeans to take over much of the land.
The Natives mostly had spears and clubs for weapons, while on the other hand the Europeans had guns, swords, cannons, and other good weapons. By the end of the sixteenth century Europeans had taken claim of most of North America.
I feel that the Europeans had both a positive and negative affect on the Natives. They showed them new foods and new ways to hunt and gather. They also killed thousands of them.

  16. Answer to question #2:
Europeans didn’t always have an incentive or the means to explore America. Europe was divided and too weak to go on many adventures during 500-1500 B.C. However, soon Europe’s conditions changed and they could not be denied the opportunity to explore new routes to countries unknown. There were two main changes in Europe that made overseas explorations more desirable. First, was the increasing size of its population. The Bubonic Plague had started in Constantinople in 1347 and had killed approximately a third of Europe’s population. However, within a century and a half the population’s size had rebounded and increased rapidly. With the growing size of the population, a new merchant class was unfolding, increasing trading. Sea travel soon became more plausible as commerce became more essential. Europe now felt more of a need to expand their trading market. The second reason for overseas exploration was the new governments that were emerging. These governments were more united and powerful than ones of the past. Many monarchs of these governments were eager to further develop commercial trading in their lands. Those who wanted commercial glory were eager to bring back exotic spices, dyes and so forth like Marco Polo had. European countries when they began to explore the seas were, in addition to expanding their trade markets, also hoping to reach China (the Orient) by sea instead of by land. Europe would soon lead all of the other continents in overseas exploration and trading. Europe had a goal in sight and sought to achieve it.

  17. 1- The European exploration had many negative effects on the Native Americans. When the Europeans started to explore and settle in the New World they brought a lot of new diseases. The Native Americans hadn’t developed immunity to them. Millions of them got sick and died. The diseases sometimes wiped out the entire native population in that area. The Europeans were all Christian and the government started to suppress the rituals that the Native Americans had. The Europeans also started to battle with the Native Americans and would take away their land. I think it was unfair of the Europeans to settle wherever they wanted and just kick the natives out. I think they should have just left then alone. But then again, who knows if we’d be the country we are today.

  18. Hey Mr. Pollock, I believe that the impact of the English arival was so that they can get more riches such as gold and many animal furs, but mostly beavers. They came here to North America to start a new life. Most of them came here because they were sentanced to death or something similar, and thought that they can run away from all of their many problems. Another reason was that they can hopefully come back to England with more riches and gold. The English was very successful at coming to the new world because they planned things out first, they explored the land to see if it was worth the journey and to see if anything would go wrong on the way.

  19. Question 1-
The Native Americans were not used to sharing the land with other people, it was just them. So when the European colonists and explorers started coming they took land for themselves and didn't even recognize that there were people here before them and the land they were on wasn't theirs. They invaded the Native American's land which caused contention.

  20. I am responding to question number one:
European explorers brought sicknesses and diseases to what is now America, and a lot of Native Americans got sick, and died. Also, the Europeans pushed the Native Americans out of there land. The Native Americans didn't like that at all, and there was a lot of friction between the two. The Europeans made them slaves and abused them in other way, as well. On the bright side, the Europeans introduced them to new crops and showed them how they raise sheep and cattle.

  21. Well, The European explorers wanted land so that they could get resourses and gold. The native americans died by the thousands because of disiease and just purely brute force from european explorers. Every time explorers gained more land, the natives gained less land unless the owners alowed them in their land. The natives didn't want any of that of course.

  22. Question #1
One of the conditions in Europe that helped promote the exploration and settlement of America is that land ownership was a status symbol. Since all of the land in England was owned by someone, as the population grew, there were a lot people who didn't own land. This encouraged people to travel to America where they would be given 50 acres of land for each person they brought with them according to the headright system.
Another condition that encouraged settlement in America was there were lots of resources in the new world that they could ship back to Europe to sell.

  23. The European explorers affected the native americans greatly. The European's brought disease to the indians. Having a relationship with the indians was also important. They were able to trade eahother and the europeans became rich. The native americans were curious about the europeans way of life. They were friends for a while but then the europeans started abusing their privileges and then things started to go bad.

  24. I chose to answer number 1. This greatly affected them for good and evil. Some believe that Roanoke failed because some Indians came and attacked them and killed them all, but that’s not all of them Indians. Pocahontas married John Rolfe, and they helped the Jamestown people survive. But when Columbus came he made them slaves. So they had good reasons to do what they did. And that’s about all that I'll say.

  25. In the fifteenth century western European governments were becoming more united and stable. This opened up the thought of exploring and finding new trade routes, to advance their commercial development. Another reason for Europes looking toward the new world is the rebounding population from the black plague. The third of the continent that had died, were back. This created a new need and want for commericialism. Also advancements in ships technology made these ideas possible.
I think that after one country made it to Asia it was a race to find a faster route. Spain ended up in the Americas though, which paved the way for the realization that this was a new world, there was money to be gained there, which is probably why we are all here.

  28. I think the English Explorers and Colonists mostly impacted North America most because the explorers and colonists deceived the Native Americans. They had a mutual friendship at the beginning, but they ended up fighting and killing each other in the end. The English system prevailed because they had a basic, well understood culture. They had squabbles with the natives, but they survived. Other factors to their success were good soil, tobacco, and Native American cordiality.

I am going to answer question one. One of the many ways Europeans affected the natives was they traded their things. Europeans brought horses which became valuable to the natives. Some Europeans called the natives savages and were cruel to them. The natives were pushed back from their homes against their will.

  31. The Eupoeans had a large affect on the Natives whether they knew it or not. Some of the affects were good and some of these are not so good. With them they brought new crops and sicknesses. While the crops were a help the sicknesses killed millions. They also brought livestock such as cattle, horses, pigs, and sheep. The Natives really liked the horses and would trade just about anything for the horses. The Europeans took the land from the Natives even though the Natives were there first. Ashly Hanson

  32. I think the arrival of the Europeans greatly impacted the Native Americans. The Europeans brought over disease that was unknown to the Native Americans which in return had an extreme impact on the Indians. The diseases killed off the Indians because they could do nothing about the foreign disease.

  33. The Native Americans were affected by the Europeans in several ways. Some ways were harmful to their health. The Europeans carried plagues and diseases which quickly deciamted the population of the Native Americans. The Europeans were also higher in technology with weapons that the Native Americans could not match in battle.
Native Americans were affected in good ways too. The Europeans introduced new and important crops to the Native Americans such as Bananas and Sugar. The Europeans also brought over new livestock such as cattle, pigs, and sheep. The most important exchange to the Native Americans were the horses.
